Trainee / Assistant Poultry Farm Manager

Job description

Oakland Farms own and operate several automated broiler chicken sites in Yorkshire and are looking for someone to join our team on a permanent, full time basis.

The role will involve supporting the Farm Manager in all aspects of the day-to-day management of one of our broiler farms, located close to York while receiving the necessary training to allow you to progress from trainee / assistant to Farm Manager on one of our other sites located close to York.

Responsibilities and Duties

The successful applicant work with the Farm Manager to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of one of our broiler units, with responsibilities to include: livestock husbandry, environmental management, record keeping, site hygiene, maintaining the highest standards of bird welfare and compliance with legislative and assurance scheme standards.

Working hours are 7.00 – 16.00 Monday to Friday and inclusion in a weekend working rota.

Once suitably trained, inclusion in the emergency on-call rota would also expected one week in four.

Qualifications and Skills

Experience working with livestock is preferred but by no means essential as a combination of internal and external training will be provided, while working towards your Poultry Passport Qualification and a NVQ L2.

A full driving licence is required.

Right to work in the UK is required for all applicants.
